Position Overview

Banks and Brower is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with at least one (1) year of experience practicing immigration law. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants hands- on experience, mentorship, and meaningful work serving immigrant communities.

Practice Areas

The associate will handle matters including:

Removal defense before EOIR/Immigration Court
Family-based immigration (Family-based petitions, Adjustment of Status, Consular Processing, and Waivers)
Humanitarian relief (Asylum, VAWA, U visas, T visas, SIJs)
Naturalization and other benefits before USCIS
Client counseling, case strategy, and court appearances
It is possible for cross-practice areas as well if desired (criminal, family, personal injury)

Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of immigration matters from intake through resolution
Represent clients before Immigration Courts, USCIS offices, and other agencies
Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and applications
Conduct client interviews and prepare clients for hearings and interviews
Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff
Maintain timely and accurate case documentation

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school
Active bar license in any U.S. jurisdiction (Indiana preferred or eligibility to waive in)
At least 1 year of experience practicing immigration law
Experience with removal defense and family-based cases preferred
Familiarity with humanitarian forms of relief strongly preferred
Strong oral, legal research, and writing skills
Excellent communication and client advocacy skills
Ability to manage deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment as part of a growing team
Spanish fluency strongly preferred
Interest in helping build and shape a growing immigration practice
